The Step-By-Step Guide for Donors
Set up a Safelist.com Verified Account. You will be prompted to choose schools for your favorites list: you will choose from your favorites when you donate an item or service.
Once you are verified, you can post a listing or purchase a listed item from a neighbor on safelist.com. You can browse items listed for sale to benefit your school by going to that school's landing page or searching safelist.com for your school's name. 100% of the proceeds will go to the school or schools that the donor chose when listing the item.
To post an item, use the iPhone app or visit Safelist.com/yourschool and select "Sell." Follow the prompts to post your item. For your listing, you can choose photos of the item, a brief description, a price, and school(s) to donate to. You may donate a portion of the proceeds to one or more schools.
Once you confirm the listing details, the system will automatically list the item in the appropriate categories.
You can now view your post on your school's landing page. If you notice a listing that's inappropriate and you would like it removed, if your post appears in the wrong category, or you experience any other technical difficulty, please report it using the site's Help section.
Share the post with your friends and family via email, Facebook, and any other social media sites you'd like. The more exposure your post gets, the more quickly it will be sold! In order for the proceeds to go to the school and for you to get a tax deduction, the buyer must purchase it through Safelist.
Make the sale! You will receive a receipt for the amount of each donation for tax purposes after the sale is complete. You can view your total donations, your school's progress to its goals, and a list of the top donors to your school on your school's landing page.
To remove a post, log in to Safelist and select "Manage my postings." From there, you can edit or delete a post.
Don't forget to browse for items your neighbors have listed! You can find them all on your school's landing page. Schools will receive the money as soon as the items have been sold: buying is as helpful as selling. You can find all kinds of new and used items and services on Safelist, without having to wade through spam and adult content. You're buying from your neighbors and helping kids in your area get a better education!
