What is Safelist's policy with respect to the sharing of users' email addresses with a third party?

What are SafePoints and how do I earn them?
The SafePoints score is a rating system to help users assess another member's integrity value within the Safelist Community. Members earn points by completing the following actions:
- 10 points = Upgrade to Silver Account (Free & Easy User Verification)
- 25 points = Upgrade to Gold Account (Additional Free Criminal Background Check)
- 5 points = Post anything on Safelist Classifieds as a Silver Member (points earned for each post)
- 10 points = Post anything on Safelist Classifieds as a Gold Member (points earned for each post)
What is the difference between an Individual Membership and a Business Membership?
Individual Memberships are for people who seek to join a safer, smarter Internet community and enjoy a traditional but more secure "classifieds" experience. Business Memberships are reserved for commercial merchants and organizations that provide products and services to the general public and have an ongoing need for delivering coupons, advertisements and other information and opportunities to their highly-targeted markets.
How do I apply for Membership?
How can I upgrade my Membership; how much does it cost; and what are the benefits?
We offer two types of individual memberships. The first one is our Silver Verified and it costs $9.99 per year. Silver Verified status will confirm your identity and allows you all the benefits and privileges of the Safelist Community. Additionally, you also have the option to upgrade to our Gold status for an additional fee of $10 per year. A Gold Verified Member has opted to undergo a Criminal Background check in addition to our standard identity verification. The Gold Verified Member is the most respected and trusted member of the Safelist Community and has the ability to confer access to only other Gold members.
Currently, we are offering FREE Silver Verification and FREE Gold Verification to all you early adopters of the Safelist.com's concept. Only Silver and Gold members can connect and transact with each other.
Our Basic members are just visitors and have not undergone a Verification process and therefore will not be able to obtain contact information to our Community's Silver and Gold members. For your protection, Basic members may not connect with other users until they become responsible members of the Safelist Community and have their identity verified.
How does Safelist obtain personal information on users during the verification upgrade process?
First and foremost, we want to make it absolutely clear that we DO NOT tap into your credit files.
As you know, we never ask for your Social Security number during the registration process and without
your SS# no one can gain access to your credit information. That is a fact. What many people don't know
is that in the United States, there is a public database that anyone can legally gain access to, called
LexisNexis. This database has information on almost every United States citizen and legal, Permanent
Resident. The information we use in verifying the identity of our users comes from LexisNexis. To learn

How do Safelist users pass a criminal background check?
We check to make sure that our Gold Verified Members names do not appear in the National Criminal Records database of millions of criminal records gathered across all 50 states from local, state and federal government sources including administrative offices of the courts, departments of public safety and state corrections departments to name a few.
How is my identity verified?
Safelist uses a proprietary software platform that is connected to both public and private commercial databases. For safety and security reasons, the specifics of this methodology remain confidential. But suffice it to say that currently banks and credit card companies use a similar methodology to verify and confirm the identity of its customers.
How can I be sure other people on Safelist have been verified?
Verification is based upon Membership level. Gold Members have the highest verification status. Their identities have been confirmed, and they have also cleared a Safelist Background Check (through an independent service). Silver Members' identities have also been confirmed, although they lack the additional clearance associated with a Safelist Background Check. Basic Members are actually just visitors. For your protection, they may not connect with you until they have accepted their responsibility to have their identities confirmed.
Why is your system unable to verify my identity?
In order to provide a relatively safe classifieds platform for our Safelist Community members, we ensure that every one of our users’ identities have been verified. However, for a number of reasons, a few of you may encounter difficulties getting yourselves verified. The most common reasons our automated system cannot verify your identity are:
Recent Change of Address: If you have recently moved your residence, then the LexisNexis system that we use has not updated its database with your new address.
Solution: Please use your previous address and try and verify yourself again.
Use of nicknames:Did you, by any chance, submit our identity verification forms using a nickname or an abbreviated version of your first name? For instance, entering “Tom” for “Thomas” or “Chris” for “Christopher.”
Solution: Please retry using your full legal name.
Age related issues: Did you recently turn 18? If so, then our online security system may not have enough information on you to validate your identity.
Solution: Call us toll-free at (877) 735-6813 or email us at support@safelist.com in order for us to manually verify your identity.
Mistyped or Misspelled Information: It is possible that you have inadvertently mistyped your name’s spelling or your information was entered correctly
Solution: Check for spelling errors or mistyped information.

What can I do if my Gold Membership has been refused?
This means one of two things: either your past conduct has "earned you the right" to fail the independently conducted Safelist Background Check or you are being flagged because someone with a similar name has a compromised background. Why can't I contact any poster I want on Safelist?
We believe it is the right of our Community Members to decide who they choose to connect with. If you're a Gold or Silver Member, you can decide to limit your contacts to Gold Members only or to permit Members with lower levels of verification to connect with you. Our Members are always in the proverbial driver's seat and only they have the ability to decide who they will allow to contact them.
Does Safelist guarantee a criminal-free marketplace?
Even though we take a number of steps to ensure the safety of our Community’s members and we believe that these security steps make Safelist.com the safest classifieds marketplace on the Internet, we can never guarantee that our Community is 100% safe. We also don’t believe that there is any place on this Earth that is 100% safe. In spite of all the precautions that we take to keep you safe from predators, we ask that you always be vigilant and never let your own guard down when meeting or transacting with strangers.
How do I create a post?
Use the blue "Post" buttons on the left hand side of the dashboard to post items such as ads, jobs, coupons, open houses, events, etc. If you are unable to post items from here, you will need to upgrade your account.
